New and replacement glazing

Smart glass for new and replacement openings.

Smart glass integrates switchable functionality into a fabricated glazing assembly rather than applying a retrofit layer to an existing pane. Sleek evaluates the opening, fabrication details, controls, access and installation scope before quoting.

The switching layer is part of the glass assembly

Smart glass is fabricated to the approved dimensions and installed as new or replacement glazing. The laminated construction can provide a more integrated edge and finish than a surface-applied retrofit, but it also makes accurate field dimensions and opening details critical.

Framing bite, edge clearances, setting methods, cable exits and controller access are coordinated before fabrication. Existing frames may or may not be suitable, so replacement glass is never promised from dimensions alone.

Privacy glass is not every kind of dynamic glass

PDLC smart glass typically changes between a clearer viewing state and a diffused privacy state. Residual haze and privacy limitations remain product-dependent, just as they do with retrofit film.

Electrochromic and SPD glazing are different technologies designed to modulate tint, glare or solar transmission. Sleek does not claim a particular technology, brand or performance value unless it is identified in the written project specification.

Where fabricated smart glass makes sense

It is often considered for new conference-room fronts, interior doors, bathroom partitions, residential feature glazing and replacement openings where an integrated assembly is preferable to a field-applied film.

The right choice depends on the opening, desired privacy behavior, glass safety requirements, frame condition, wiring access and construction schedule—not simply whether the project is residential or commercial.

What shapes the installed cost.

No single square-foot figure captures fabrication, controls and access. The assessment separates product cost from electrical, glazing and finish work.

Buyer questions

Smart glass FAQs.

Is smart glass the same as smart film?
No. Smart film is a retrofit layer applied to suitable existing glass. Smart glass is a fabricated glazing assembly installed as new or replacement glass.
Does smart glass provide blackout privacy?
Privacy-state glazing diffuses light and obscures detail; it is not blackout. Product selection and room lighting affect how much silhouette or glow remains.
Can smart glass fit an existing frame?
Sometimes, but only after checking frame depth, glass make-up, edge clearances, setting method, cable routing and applicable safety-glazing requirements.
Do you offer electrochromic or SPD glass?
Those are distinct solar-tint technologies. Sleek confirms the actual technology in a project specification and does not imply availability until the product and application have been reviewed.
Why can’t smart glass be priced from square footage alone?
Fabrication, glass construction, framing, controls, freight, access and installation conditions can materially change the scope. A field assessment produces a more useful quote.
How long is the warranty?
Coverage varies by the selected glass, interlayer, controller and installation scope. The applicable warranty is documented with the project rather than stated as a universal term.
